As a non-profit substance abuse prevention organization in the area, we are dedicated to creating awareness and are passionate about preventing the onset of addiction and substance abuse in the Tuscaloosa and West Alabama area. We are committed to being a consistent resource to all age groups in the community and helping people retain their freedom by remaining addiction free.
Working in close partnership with area school systems, families, businesses, governments, and community groups, READY determinedly increases awareness and implements proven, holistic, evidenced-based programs directly aimed at the prevention and intervention of the life-destroying substance abuse and addiction problems in our Tuscaloosa and West Alabama youth populations.

READY provides prevention programming at community events, health fairs, seminars and training sessions.
READY has partnered with the Tuscaloosa County and Tuscaloosa City School Systems in implementing "Have a Little PRIDE", an elementary prevention program designed for 3rd graders that focuses on making healthy lifestyle choices and choosing not to use tobacco, e-cigarettes and alcohol, as well as providing prevention classes to the middle and high school students.

Drug abuse prevention among teens is no casual business; you can help prevent premature deaths from occurring. Modern drug abuse prevention programs do work. Without these programs, many youth will begin to use drugs at an alarming rate. A critical point between use and abuse occurs during the high school years. PROJECT TOWARDS NO DRUG ABUSE is an effective program that is intended to help break the chain between drug use and abuse. This program targets high school age youth.

"READY, SET, Go!" is our elementary prevention program specifically designed for elementary aged students in West Alabama. The purpose of this program is to lay the groundwork for understanding addiction and to gain perspective on the benefits of making healthy lifestyle choices throughout their lifetime.
The children are provided with fun, interactive materials that they can keep and take home as well as a letter to parents and guardians explaining the program goals.
Prevention Specialist received 106.5 pounds for quarter one.
Prevention Specialist participated in the Annual Prescription Drug Take Back collecting 150 pounds.
Prevention Specialist received 87.3 pounds for Quarter Two of drop box location data.
Prevention Specialist received valuable information during the RX Summit to help in promoting drop box locations within the county. Prevention specialist received 85.6 pounds during Quarter three of collection.
Prevention Specialist received 55.8 pounds of prescription drugs collected from drop boxes within our area for Quarter four.
Prevention Specialist received collection data for quarter one of the new fiscal year. Specialist in collaboration with West Alabama Narcotics collected 24.4 pounds of unwanted and expired prescription drugs.
