READY is heavily involved throughout the Tuscaloosa, Bibb, Hale, Greene, Sumter, Marengo, Choctaw and Pickens City and County School Systems to make sure students are allowed the opportunity to receive prevention education. READY provides programming to several middle and high schools in the area. Our goal is to continue spreading drug education and awareness to as many students and citizens in West Alabama as possible. 

Project TND is an effective, interactive classroom-based substance abuse prevention program that is based on more than two decades of successful research at the University of Southern California. Project TND focuses on three factors that predict tobacco, alcohol, and other drug use, violence-related behaviors, and other problem behaviors among youth, including:

• Motivation factors (i.e., students’ attitudes, beliefs, expectations, and desires regarding drug use);
• Skills (effective communication, social self-control, and coping skills); and
• Decision-making (i.e., how to make decisions that lead to health-promoting behaviors).

Drug abuse prevention among teens is no casual business; you can help prevent premature deaths from occurring. Modern drug abuse prevention programs do work. Without these programs, many youth will begin to use drugs at an alarming rate. A critical point between use and abuse occurs during the high school years. PROJECT TOWARDS NO DRUG ABUSE is an effective program that is intended to help break the chain between drug use and abuse. This program targets high school age youth.

 "READY, SET, Go!" is our elementary prevention program specifically designed for elementary aged students in West Alabama. READY partners with Tuscaloosa City and County school systems to implement the program. READY provides the program to 3rd grade classrooms in the City and County School System of Tuscaloosa, as requested by the school. The purpose of this program is to lay the groundwork for understanding addiction and to gain perspective on the benefits of making healthy lifestyle choices throughout their lifetime. 
      The children are provided with fun, interactive materials that they can keep and take home as well as a letter to parents and guardians explaining the program goals.
